SWTOR Flashpoints Guide – The Esseles And The Back Talon Walkthroughs

If you are starting to do Flashpoints in Star Wars: The Old Republic, then you might require the guidance of a SWTOR Flashpoints guide. Mainly because each of the encounters you will face, have all sorts of special tactics that you need to implement in order to be successful. So let’s start with the basics.

You will be able to do your first Flashpoints when you get off your starter planet. You can get off your first planet either by doing the Flashpoint or by taking a normal shuttle. So make sure you get another 3 persons and do the instance, as it will be a lot of fun.

To help you further, I will tell you how to defeat every encounter if the first Flashpoints of both factions. Much like a SWTOR Flashpoints guide.

The Esseles (Republic)

Your main objective in this instance is to protect the ship from an incoming Imperial attack who are after a high value target on your ship.

Your first encounter will be Lieutenant Isric. You should take care of the adds first and have your tank get Isric. When you see a target on the ground, move from there. Lieutenant Isric will summon a Plasma Probe that does AoE damage. He will keep spawning adds as the fight moves forward, so make sure you kill them as soon as they appear. Tank Isric in the door way so that it will be easier to kill the adds as they come.

The second encounter is Ironfist. The boss himself doesn’t deal that much damage. He will however, knock everyone around him on the ground. So make sure that only the tank is close to him. Everyone else should stay well away from him. He will also fire missile barrages but not before putting a target on the ground. So make sure you stay away from those blue reticles. He will also spawn random adds throughout the fight, so have a DPS class take them down.

Now you will have to face ISS-944. He is a bonus boss that you have to trigger. In order to do that, you will have to have each group member move to either side of the room and click the computer at the same time. Move across the platform and down the other side and you will see the boss.

In order to defeat him, you will need to watch when he Enrages. You will see him glow purple. When he does this, his damage and AoE damage increase a lot, but he also slows down. So make sure you get away from him for the duration of the Enrage.

The final encounter is Lord Vokk. As soon as the fight starts, make sure your tank grabs him. He will knock back everyone in range of him so make sure your healer and ranged DPS are in good range. Once he uses the knock back, he will use Saber Throw on a random party member. The damage is pretty high so make sure your healer is paying attention. You will also see purple reticles on the ground. Stay away from these as he will cast Force Lightning on that spot that deals very good damage. Lord Vokk will also cast Force Choke on targets, stunning them and dealing good damage. The players stunned should use his escape ability quickly and the healer should watch that person and heal when necessary. They should have it as any class can train their CC break ability at level 9.

And that is it. You have successfully defended your ship and beat the Imperial Battlecruiser.

The Black Talon (Empire)

The objective for this Flashpoint is to first take control of the Black Talon and then attack a Republic transport ship to capture a high value target.

Your first encounter after you seize control of the Black Talon is GXR-5 Sabotage Droid. Make sure you clear the room before engaging him as you will need the space. The tank should immediately grab him. If he can’t take the ranged DPS from the boss, the tank should use the pillars in the room to avoid it.

Once you get on board the Brentaal Star, you will fight Commander Ghulil. Your tank should get on him immediately and watch out for the AoE sentries that he spawns. Simply stay away from the blue reticles to avoid taking damage from them.

Make sure you destroy the computer consoles as when you have 4, you will spawn a bonus boss, the GXR-7 Command Droid. He is pretty straight forward to defeat. As the same with the other droid, if you can’t take the ranged DPS salves, hide behind something to avoid getting hit.

Your final encounter will be Yadira Ban, a Jedi Consular. She will randomly Force Jump on targets, you can really control this. You can use the pillars in the room to try and avoid getting hit when she does. She will also Force Pull everyone next to her and then start casting a AoE knock back that deals moderate damage. While she is channeling, you can run away from her to avoid the knock back. Other than, she will be pretty easy to defeat.

After that, you will find the traitor you are after. Deal with him as you see fit, although it will be best to let him live for debriefing.
